Drug trader killed in Teknaf 'gunfight'

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A suspected drug trader has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Marine Drive area of Teknaf upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mahiduddin, hailed from Kambaniya village of Naikhangchhari upazila of Bandarban.

RAB-15 Deputy Commander Major Mohammad Rabiul Islam said the gunfight took place between drug traders and a patrol team of RAB in the area around 2:30am on Sunday. Later, the RAB personnel recovered the bullet-hit body of the youth.

A total of 10,000 pieces of Yaba pills, a local gun and three round of bullets were recovered from the spot.

The body was kept at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
