Eid enjoy turns tragic as 4 kids killed in boat capsize

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Four children were killed as a boat capsized in a water body, popularly known as beel in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased could not be identified immediately. However, their ages are likely to be between 8 to 12 years old.

Locals said nine kids went to local Baimail beel for having a boat ride on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr in the afternoon. At one stage, the boat capsized in the beel. Of them, five could reach shore while four went under water. Being informed, locals recovered the bodies of four kids after their frantic efforts of searching.

Abbas Uddin Khokon, local councillor of Gazipur City Corporation, confirmed the news.
