Kishoreganj Correspondent: Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival for Muslims, are knocking at the door as it is nearly ending the holy month of Ramadan.

Though a terror incident was occurred at the country’s largest Eid congregation, the 190th jamaat was held in 2016. This time, all out preparations are being taken to ensure security measures.

The 191th jamaat at the historic site will also be held at 10:00am on the Eid day by Moulana Farid Uddin Masud, chairman of Islahul Muslimin Parishad.

The Eidgah committee, district administration, police and municipality authorities are very much active to ensure all out security for holding a peaceful jamaat.



Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police, Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) along with the district administration visited the Eid ground and observed securities measures taken for the jamaat. They also held meetings several times in this regard.

The Eid ground has nearly been prepared for holding jamaat. Several news streets and a culvert has been built of ensure hassle-free movement of devotees. Toilets and ablution place have also been repaired. Many of volunteers and medical teams are also ready to give services to people. Rail authorities also arranged two special trains named “Sholakia Special” for devotees of long distances.

Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Kishoreganj, said five platoons of BGB, a huge number of cops and Ansar members will be deployed around the Eid congregation. Besides, members of different intelligence agencies will also perform duties in plain clothes.

For the first time, two drone cameras will be used to ensure security at the Eid ground which will capture images around the congregation, he added.



Besides, Close Circuit (CC) cameras and watch tower have been set up at the entrances of the ground. Metal detectors will be used to search throughout the congregation and check posts will be set up at different streets of the town, he said.

On Eid ul-Fitr in 2016, armed militants conducted an attack on police personnel near the Sholakia prayer grounds. Four- two policemen, a militant and a civilian-  were killed in the attack.
