Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated amid festivity across country

Risingbd Desk: The Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslims, is being celebrated across the country on Saturday amid due solemnity, fervor and gaiety as the holy Ramadan, the month of fasting and abstinence, came to an end.

On the Eid day, national flas was hoisted at every government and non-government office across the country on celebrating the blessed festival.

The very auspicious occasion began with the sighting of the Shawwal moon on Friday evening and reached the climax this morning amid offering the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers by millions from all strata of life at mosques, Eidgahs and makeshift prayer venues in the capital and elsewhere across the country.

During munajats after Eid congregations (jamaats), the Muslims also prayed for divine blessings to help strengthen national unity against all odds and destructive activities, including terrorism and militancy.

Our Khulna Correspondent Muhammad Nuruzzaman reports that the different important roads and road islands of the city were decorated with banners studded “Eid Mubarak” in Arabic and Bengali.

Main Eid congregation of the city was held at the premises of Khulna Circuit House at 8:30am which conducted by Khulna town mosque Imam Maulana Mohammad Saleh.



Khulna-2 lawmaker and the city Awami League (AL) general secretary Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, newly elected KCC mayor and the city AL president Talukder Abdul Khaleque, former KCC mayor and the city BNP secretary general Moniruzzaman Moni, former lawmaker and the city BNP president Nazrul Islam Manju, Khulna District Council chairman and the district AL president Sheikh Harunur Rashid, district BNP president SM Shafiqul Alam Mona, divisional commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, the deputy commissioner (DC) Amin Ullah Ahsan, leaders and activists of different political parties and top officials of the administration among others attended the Eid congregation.

According to Sylhet Correspondent Abdullah Al Noman, the main Eid congregation was held at the historic Shahi Eidgah in the city at 8:30am. Thousands of devotees attended the jamaat.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, former mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran among other political leaders attended the Eid congregation.

Faridpur Correspondent Monirul Islam Tito reports that Eid congregations were held at 1,250 places in nine upazilas of the district. The biggest Eid jamaat arranged by Zaker Party was held at Goalchamot at the district town.

Central Awami League leader Abdur Rahman MP attended the Eid jamaat at Madhukhali Eidgah.

In his speech, he urged to come forward to annihilating drugs to build healthy society.

He also urged that drugs will not be sheltered for the sake of saving the next generation.

According to Mymensingh Correspondent Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed, the Eid congregation was held at Kachijhuli Anzuman Eidgah of the district at 8:30am with tight security amid due solemnity, fervor and gaiety.

Mufti Abdullah Al Mamun, Imam of Anjuman Eidgah central mosque, conducted the jamaat.

Mymensingh municipality mayor Ikramul Haque Tito and additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Mohsin Uddin came up with goodwill speeches before the Eid prayer.

On the same venue, second jamaat led by the second Imam of the mosque Maulana Atikur Rahman was held  at 9:30am.

Some 2,988 Eid congregations were held at different mosques and Eidgah across the district.
