Ershad wants 70 seats, 10-12 ministries

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad has demanded 70 seats and 10-12 ministries in the cabinet to participate in the 11th general election in alliance with Awami League (AL).

He said, “I told PM that we want to be associated with AL in the next general election. But for this we want 70 seats and 10-12 ministries in the cabinet. If the demands are not met, our party will participate in the election individually fielding candidates in all the 300 constituencies.”

JP Chairman told this to the reporters at Rangpur Circuit House on Saturday noon.

Over cancellation of quota system, HM Ershad said, “It will not be right to fully abolish the quota system in government service. There should be a quota kept aside for freedom fighters. But it is necessary to reform the quota system logically.”
