Ex-national skipper Pilot’s father drowns

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: Father of former skipper of Bangladesh cricket team Khaled Masud Pilot drowned while taking a bath in a pond in Sagarpara area of Rajshahi city on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Alam Mollah, 70.

Rajshahi Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Senior Station Officer Farhad Hossain said Shamsul Alam Mollah went to the pond today around 11:30am and slipped into the pond but could not manage to make it to the bank.

Locals informed firefighting units after failing to find out him. A team of fire service unit began their search at the pond around noon and spotted his body floating in the pond around 2:30pm, he said.

The body has been handed over to the family after recovery, said Station Officer Farhad Hossain.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalia Police Station Amanullah confirmed the matter.
