Explosion at Chapainawabganj militant den

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) found a militant hideout at remote char area under Chapainababganj Sadar upazila.

The militant den caught fire after an explosion inside it when law enforcers went there to conduct a drive at the hideout, set up at Madhyachar area of Char Alatuli union. 

Lt. Col. Mahbub Alam, also captain of Rajshahi RAB-5, confirmed the news.

He said militants fired bullets and hurled grenades at law enforcers when they went to drive at the hideout early Tuesday. Later, the house caught fire after an explosion. Law enforcers cordoned off the hideout till the report was filed around 9:15am.

"Operation inside the hideout would be begun after bomb expert team of RAB reach the spot," he added.

The RAB official could not tell how many people might be inside the house and whether any casualties happened in the blast or fire.
