Explosion at Savar militant den

Staff Correspondent, Savar: Sounds of explosion were heard inside the militant in Savar after a bomb disposal unit had started their operation.

The sound was heard around 12:30pm on Saturday. After a while, sounds were heard two more times back to back.

However, it was not immediately known whether someone fell in the casualty.

Earlier, a bomb disposal unit of police reached the spot around 10:30am and entered the hideout.

Two units of Fire Service and an ambulance also reached the spot.

A huge number of police have been deployed around the house. The locals were asked to leave their houses and take shelter away.

Counter Terrorism unit of Police cordoned off a six-storey building in suspicion of being militant den at Namagenda area of Savar since Friday night.

A huge amount of explosive is likely to be stored inside the house, police claimed.

The electricity of the house has already been cut off.

Alongside, police announced people of the area to walk away at safe distance to avoid any unwanted incident.

Police also raided another five-storey building on Friday evening before they cordoned off the six-storey building. However, police could not find militants or explosive there.
