Father-daughter suicide: One more arrested

Staff Correspondent: Police arrested another accused in the suicide case of father and daughter pair in Gazipur.

Shreepur police arrested Shahidul Islam, 30, son of Nasir Uddin of Konopur village of the upazila, on Tuesday night.

Md Eklas Uddin, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Shreepur Police Station, confirmed the news.

Hazrat Ali and his adopted daughter Ayesha committed suicide crushing under train at Shreepur railway station area on Saturday morning.

Hazrat Ali's wife Halima alleged that local stalker Faruk picked up their daughter Ayesha and tried to rape her. Locals saved the girl after they sensed the matter.

Hazrat Ali informed the matter to local UP member and police station. But they did not pay heed to his allegation, she added.

As he did not get justice, he along with his daughter took lives crushing under train, she said.

Earlier, police arrested the UP member Abul Hossain after the incident.

Later, Halima filed a case against seven people including the UP member with Kamalapur Railway Police Station.
