Fire at Tongi slum, Jhut godown

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur:  A fire broke out at a slum and a Jhut godown (scrap fabrics from garment industries) at Namabazar of Milgate area in Tongi of Gazipur district.

The fire originated around 12:15pm on Saturday.

Being informed, eight units of Fire Service rushed to the spot immediately. They are trying to douse the blaze.

Md Akteruzzaman, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, confirmed the news.

He said, "The fire originated at a Jhut godown and spread across the nearby slum of Namabazar in Milgate area of Tongi.

He, however, could not tell the reason of originating fire.
