Housewife hacked dead, husband on run

Satkhira Correspondent: A woman was allegedly hacked to death by his husband for dowry at Tersi village of the district's Tala upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Laxmirani Das, 25, daughter of Asim Kumar Das of Keshobpur upazila.

Her husband Bipul Chandra Das along with other family members went in hiding since the incident.

Deceased's brother Sanjay Das filed a case in this connection.

Laxmirani's father Asim Das said Bipul used to torture his daughter frequently for dowry. As a sequel to that, Bipul, his elder brother along with with his wife and other family members beat Laxmirani indiscriminately, causing to death. Later, they tried to emerge it as a suicide incident of hanging.

Hassan Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tala Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said the primary evidences prompted to guess the incident as murder.
