Husband gets death penalty for killing wife in Laxmipur

Laxmipur Correspondent: A Laxmipur court has given death penalty to husband Monir Hossain for the murder of wife Kusum Akhter.

At the same time, the court has also fined Tk one lakh.  Monir is the son of the late Sultan Ali at Parchim Sheikhpur village under Ramganj.

Judge Saidur Rahman Gazi of Laxmipur Additional District and Sessions Judge and Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal pronounced the verdict on Tuesday.

According to the court sources, on November 17, 2012, Monir Hossain killed Kusum Akhter for not getting dowry.

On the day of the incident, the father of the deceased Jamal Mia filed a murder case with Ramganj Police Station accusing Monir Hossain.
