IPU delegates visit Comilla today

Comilla Correspondent: Delegates from 150 countries who joined the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly in Dhaka are set to visit Comilla for witnessing different ancient archeological sites spread over the region.

The 150-member delegation is expected to reach Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD) at Kotbari around 11:00am on Wednesday.

The delegations will visit the famous archaeological spots Salban Vihara, museum of Mainamati and Rajbari. They will visit there a number of sculptures of Buddhist deities, artifacts, stunning terracotta plaques, coins, utensils and ancient manuscripts from 6th to 13th century A.D.

They will a cultural programme there around 12:00am. Earlier at 11:30am, a presentation will be held over the district's Comilla archeological sites.

The delegations are expected to visit BARD aroud 12:30pm. Then, they will take lunch at BARD Cafeteria and visit Salban Vihara and Mainamati museum around 2:15pm. They are scheduled to leave Comilla for Dhaka at 4:00pm, after they would take tea.
