JMB man remanded over Christian grocer murder

Natore Correspondent: A court in Natore has placed a key mastermind on a four-day remand in a case filed in connection with the murder of Christian grocer Sunil Gomez.
The remanded man is Jahangir Hossain, member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
Judicial Magistrate SM Moniruzzaman passed the order on Thursday noon while Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Abdul Hai, also the investigation officer of the case, brought Jahangir before the court seeking a 10-day remand for him.
Later, the court granted four-day remand for him after hearing.
Recently, police arrested Jahangir from Gaibandha and got information about his involvement in the murder during interrogation.
Sunil Gomez, 60, a grocer and a former employee of Banpara Christian Missionary, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Banpara Christian Palli in Baraigram upazila of Natore on June 5 last year.
Victim’s daughter Swapna Gomez filed the case with Baraigram Police Station on the same day.
