Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has given newly formed Jatiya Oikyafront (JOF) permission to hold a rally at Gonokpara intersection of the city on Friday on some conditions, rejecting plea for the historical Madrasa ground.
Earlier on October 22, the city BNP president Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and secretary general Shafiqul Haque Milon, on behalf of JOF, submitted an application to RMP seeking the permission.
Later, BNP leaders and activists met RMP commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter for several times.
Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and Shafiqul Haque Milon also met RMP commissioner on Wednesday noon too. Later, police gave them permission at the afternoon.
RMP spokesperson senior assistant commissioner Iftekhayer Alam confirmed the news.
City BNP secretary general Shafiqul Milon said, “We have yet not received written document till the afternoon. But we heard that RMP gave permission.”
