Jamaat leader among 5 held over MP Liton murder

Gaibandha Correspondent: Law enforcers detained five people including a Jamaat leader on suspicion of their involvement in the killing of Gaibandha-1 MP Manzurul Islam Liton.

 

They were arrested from separate places of Sundarganj upazila in the district early Friday.

 

Among the detainees, Mozammel Haque Bhutto is the general secretary of Sundarganj upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami. Other detainees could not be known immediately.

 

Confirming the matter, Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sundarganj Police Station, said the detainees are being interrogated.

 

On December 31 last year, Manzurul Islam Liton, MP of Gaibandha-1 constituency, was shot to death by miscreants at his family residence at Bamandanga village in Sundarganj upazila.
