Juba League attack on AL programme, 10 injured

Satkhira Correspondent: At least 10 people including Satkhira District Awami League President Munsur Ahmed have been injured as Juba League activists carried out attack on a programme of Awami League in Satkhira.

The incident took place at Shahid Alauddin Chattar of the district town on Monday afternoon. Satkhira District Awami League arranged the programme marking the Independence Day.

After the incident, leaders and activists of the District Chhatra League sieged Satkhira Sadar Police Station demanding arrest of Juba League attackers.

The injured includes Mir Mohitul Alam, member of the district Juba League, Sadikur Rahman, general secretary of the district BCL, Kazi Akhter Hossain, former BCL president of the district, Mir Sahin, president of the district Tanti League, Juba League leader Babu and BCL leader Toukir.

Maruf Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “We were not aware of the AL programme there. Being informed of the attack, police immediately rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.”
