Khaleda’s bail rejected in Comilla arson case

Comilla Correspondent: A Comilla court on Wednesday rejected a bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in an arson attack case filed with Chauddagram Police Station in the district in 2015.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mustain Billah passed the order after Khaleda Zia’s lawyer filed the petition seeking her bail this afternoon.

The court also asked the jail authority to produce the BNP chief before it on March 28.

Khaleda Zia was shown arrested in the case yesterday for instigating the arson attack on a bus on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla's Chauddagram that left eight passengers dead and 27 others injured on February 3, 2015. On January 2 last, an arrest warrant was issued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 48 others in the case. Later, Comilla Court Inspector Subrata Banerjee sent it to Dhaka Metropolitan Police.  

The law enforcers submitted the charge sheet of the case to a Comilla court accusing Khaleda and the others on March 2 last year.
