Lighting strike on boat, leaving 1 killed, 2 injured

Faridpur Correspondent: A man has been killed and two injured in the incident of lighting strike on fishing boat in the Padma River in Faridpur.

The incident took place at Dicrirchar area of the district’s sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was known as Hiru Sheikh, 40, son of Yousuf Sheikh of Munshidangi village of the upazila.

The injured are Gobinda Kumar of Habeli Gopalpur of the town and Hashme Sheikh of Fakirdangi village.

Mehedi Hassan Mintu, Chairman of Dicrirchar Union Parishad, confirmed the news.

He said, “A lighting strike happened on the boat while the three people were fishing in the river, leaving them injured. People of other boats immediately took them to Faridpur General Hospital where attending doctors declared Hiru dead.
