Listed drug trader killed in Cumilla gunfight

Cumilla Correspondent: A listed drug trader named Khorshed Alam Prakash alias Kana Khorshed, (48) was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in the district early Friday.

Daudkandi Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said acting on a tip-off, a team of police took position in Hasanpur govt. college area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway and started searching transports.

Meanwhile, police tried to stop the drug trader Khorshed Alam's private car around 1:30am. At one stage, the cohorts of the drug trader opened fire aiming police. In reply, police also opened fire, leaving Khorshed bullet injured.

Later, he was taken to Daudkandi Hospital but died on way of the hospital.

Police recovered 80 kilograms of cannabis, two round of bullets and a pipe gun. The drug trader was wanted in 13 cases, police claimed.
