Mahmudkati-Raruli road in bad shape

Desk Report: The Mahmudkati-Raruli road passing through Shahjatpur and Kheshra villages of Kheshra union under Tala upazila in Satkhira district has been in awful condition for long.

The road has been causing great suffering to commuters as vehicles have not been able to use the road.

Locals said thousands of people, including students and traders, need to use the road every day, overcoming serious problems.

On a recent visit to the site, this correspondent found a number of potholes on the road. The road was constructed with Herringbone Bond (HBB) about 9/10 years ago, but at present, in most of the places, bricks have been displaced.

Traders who come to Kapilmuni Bazar and Katipara Bazar are to suffer a lot due to the dilapidated road.

The suffering is beyond description when they need to take a critical patient to hospitals, locals said.

Public representatives give assurance that the road will be repaired but no action has been taken yet, a local alleged. The roads have been so badly damaged that there is no scope for the villagers to repair it, he said.
