Maitree Express-2 launches test trip to Kolkata

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: The new passenger train Maitree Express-2 has started its journey to Kolkata from Khulna on a test run.

The train left Khulna Station around 8:10am on Saturday. Railway Minister Mujibul Haque, local politicians and several railway officials took the voyage and enjoyed the journey to Benapole.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are set to inaugurate the train service officially through video conference.

Later, the train will move to Kolkata and it will return to Khulna at 8:05am on Sunday.
