Malaysia relief plane reaches Chittagong for Rohingyas

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: A plane with relief materials for Rohingya people fled from Myanmar has arrived in Chittagong.

The cargo plane carrying 12 tons of different types of foods, soaps, cosmetics and water, landed at Hazrat Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on Saturday night.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Md Zillur Rahman, on behalf of Bangladesh government, received the plane at the airport.

Riaz Uddin, manager wing commander of Shah Amanat  airport, confirmed the news.

The relief materials include rice, milk powder, dried date, biscuit, clothes, soaps and drinking water, he said.

DC Zillur Rahman said, "We received 14 types of relief goods including food. The relief materials will be sent to Cox's Bazaar DC today (Sunday) after completing Customs procedures. The Cox's Bazaar DC will distribute the goods among Rohingya people."
