Maldivian cops in Rajshahi to probe into Raudha's death

Staff Correspondent: Two police officers from Maldives have reached Rajshahi to investigate into the suicide of Maldivian medical student and model Raudha Athif.

The two policemen are -- Mohamed Riyaz, chief superintendent, and Mohamed Ali, chief inspector of Maldives police.

Zillur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shah Makhdum Police Station and Rashedul Islam, inspector of Detective Branch (Rajshahi) went to the Shah Makhdum airport to receive the Maldivian cops. 

Ameen Hossain, Assistant commissioner of DB under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), said that the unnatural death case filed after the death of Raudha Athif was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police on Sunday.

"The two cops have reached Rajshahi to probe over the unnatural death. However, we did not talk about the matter officially", he said.

On March 29, the 21-year-old’s body was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in her dorm room.

She was on the cover of Vogue India magazine in October 2016.
