Man gets death for killing wife in Jessore

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: A Jessore court has sentenced a man to death penalty for killing his wife in 2012.
The death-row convict is Abdullah alias Titumir, son of Ayub Ali of Babuparha of the district's sadar upazila.
He was present in the court during the judgment announced.
The court also fined the convict Tk 1 lakh.
Judge Amit Kumar Dey of Jessore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order on Wednesday noon.
Advocate Idris Ali, public prosecutor of the tribunal, said Abdullah demanded a motorbike as dowry to his wife's family after he got married with Salma, daughter of Kabir Hossain of Mobarakkati village of Jessore sadar upazila.
He frequently used to torture his wife as she could not meet his demand. As a sequel to that, he burnt Salma to death pouring Kerosene on her body on July 9, 2012.
