Man killed in clash between 2 rival groups in Pabna

Pabna Correspondent: A person was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Charghoshpur village of the district’s sadar upazila over establishing supremacy in the area on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 45, son of Azhar Ali of the village.

Of the injured, 11 were admitted to Pabna General Hospital in critical conditions.

Hafiz Uddin, Inspector (Investigation) of Pabna Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “There had been a dispute for long days between the groups of Tarek and Atiar of Charghoshpur village over establishing supremacy in the area. As a sequel to that, people of the both groups locked into clash with lethal weapons and fire arms on Friday evening, leaving more than 20 injured.”

“Of the injured, 12 were whisked off to Pabna General Hospital where attending doctors declared Rafiqul dead,” he added.

All the casualties are of Tarek group, the Inspector said.

The injured who were admitted to the hospital are: Iqbal Hossain, 26, Billal Hossain, 40, Wasim Hossain, 20, Nozu Pramanik, 40, Faruk Hossain, 25, Ratna Khatun, 30, Hashem Ali, 30, Polash Hossain, 22, Amin Uddin, 24, Jalal Uddin, 40, and Rafiq Hossain, 17.
