Mother commits suicide after killing two children

Staff Correspondent, Jashore: A mother committed suicide after killing her two children at Digha village under Sharsha upazila in the district on Sunday night.

The deceased are Hamida Khatun, 35, her daughter Shrifa Khatun, 12 and son Sohan Hossain, 5.

Police recovered the dead bodies and sent those to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy.

Police arrested three persons in this connection.

According to locals, husband Ibrahim Hossain and mother-in-law Jamila Khatun used to torture Hamida Khatun. For this reason, Hamida bought poison from the market and she took it after she had fed it to her two children.

Locals also suspect that husband Ibrahim Hossain and mother-in-law Jamila Khatun killed them by feeding them poison.
