Municipality councillor held over attempting to snatch accused

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Police today detained a municipality councillor of Dinajpur district for allegedly attempting to snatch away an accused on Saturday night.

The detainee is Kazi Akbar Hossain Orange.

Redwanur Rahim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station in Dinajpur, said a team of police in a drive detained a person with hemp from Phulbari Bus stand area of the town. At that time, Kazi Akbar Hossain Orange attempted to snatch away the accused.

Sub-Inspector Atik filed a case against three others including Orange after arresting Orange. Three accused are now on the run.

Councillor Orange was sent to jail after producing him before a court on Sunday morning.
