National Disaster Preparedness Day observed

Staff Correspondent: The National Disaster Preparedness Day-2017 was observed at Khalilnagar Union of Tala upazila in Satkhira district with the theme ‘Disaster preparedness round the clock brings sustainable development.’

Marking the day, Khalilnagor Union Disaster Management Committee took out a procession and organised a meeting and human chain in front of Khalilnagar Market with the support of Muslim Aid UK Bangladesh Field Office.

During the programmes, they demanded steps to remove water logging at Khalilnagar Union, re-excavate Salta Khal and dig four canals connecting Salta Khal.

Panel Chairman Abu Bakar Siddique presided over the programmes. Secretary of the union Md. Rezaul Karim, journalist Khalilur Rahman Litu, UP members Liaqat Gazi, Biswajit Mandal, Bikas Mandal, Mehdi Hassan, Sheikh Mujam Ali and female UP member Sirina Khatun also spoke on the occasion.

Community people, local elites and representatives from different organisations were present there.

Muslim Aid representatives Dewan Mohammad Ershad, Jasim Uddin, Raihan Chanchal, Sheikh Alimuzzaman (Palash) and KM Mahabuba were also present.
