Neo JMB IT chief arrested in Lalmonirhat

Lalmonirhat Correspondent: Detectives arrested Rakibul Islam alias Rakib, 26, Information and Technology secretary of the militant outfit Neo JMB (Sarwar Jahan-Tamim Chowdhury group) from his house of Tongbhanga area of the district's Hatibandha upazila on Tuesday.

Rakib, son of Qurban Ali of the area, was involved in Kantajir temple attack in Dinajpur, police claimed.

The news was revealed in a press conference held at the office of Superintendent of Police in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday noon.

Rakib is a first year student of Sefatia Kamil Madrasa of Bhabanipur under the upazila.

Lalmonirhat SP SM Rashidul Haque said, he (Rakib) was arrested acting on tip off. A case has been filed against him with Hatibandha Police Station under Anti-Terrorism Act. He confessed to running 13 facebook accounts on purpose of Jihad which include 313 Badri Sainik, Nanga Torobari, Fidai Hamla and Khelafater Soinik.

Law enforcers also seized 22 jihadi books and an android mobile phone set from his house, the SP added.

SI Siddqul Islam, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, said Lalmonirhat Chief Judicial Magistrate Court sent him to jail after he was produced before it seeking seven-day remand.
