Newborn found dead in drain

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: A newborn baby girl was found dead in a drain in Rajshahi city on Saturday noon.

Police recovered the body from the drain of Shiroil colony area in the city around 12:00pm.

Abdul Karim, Shiroil police outpost sub-inspector (SI) of Boalia Model Police Station, confirmed the news to risingbd.

The baby was noticed by locals around 11:00am in the drain near a workshop field of Shiroil area. Later, the locals informed police about the incident, the police official said.

The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College for autopsy after recovering it, he added.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Boalia Model Police Station Aman Ullah said it might be an ‘unwanted child’. Somebody might have dumped the baby in the drain.

We are looking into the incident, the OC added.
