‘No militant likely inside Comilla den but explosives’

Staff Correspondent, Comilla: Law enforcement has begun carrying out an operation at a suspected militant hideout in Kotbari of Comilla on Friday.

The local administration has imposed Section 144 around the suspected militant den.

The operation has been named “Operation Strike Out,” said Shafiqul Islam, deputy inspector general of Chittagong range police.

He said, “Operation is underway but we could not go inside yet. There might be no militant inside the den but explosives.”

Gas and power supplies to the three-storey house owned by Delwar Hossain, suspecting it a militant den, have been cut off.

A SWAT and a bomb-disposal team joined counter-terror police and RAB personnel who were surrounding the house.

Detectives believe the multiple militant operatives inside the house are armed with explosives.

The police have been making announcements to instruct locals to stay safe during the raid. The road from Kotbari to BIRD has been sealed off.
