Nurse allegedly killed after rape in moving bus

Kishoreganj Correspondent: A female nurse was allegedly murdered after rape in a moving bus at Kotiyadi in Kishoreganj.

The incident took place at Jamtoli area on Bhairab-Kishoreganj regional highway around 8:30pm on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Shahinur Akter Tania, 24, daughter of Gias Uddin of Baherchar village under the upazila.

Tania, who worked at Ibn Sina Hospital in the capital, had boarded a Swarnalata Paribahan from airport area on Monday afternoon. She talked to her family members several times over mobile phone after getting on the bus. Around 8:30pm, she again called her brother and said she would reach pirispur by 5/7 seven minutes.

Later, she was found dead in hospital.

According to family members, around 10:45pm on Monday, rapists took her to Kotiyadi Health Complex and left her body there. They said she died by an accident.

Tania had an LED 19” tv, a Samsung android mobile phone and Tk 15,000 to 16,000 of her salary, he brother Kafil Uddin said.

Kotiyadi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news.

He said, “Bus driver Nuruzzaman, 39, and his assistant Lalon Mia, 33, were arrested. Tania’s mobile phone, bag, clothes were also recovered.”
