Old woman strangulated to death in Pabna

Pabna Correspondent: An old woman named Zayeda Begum (70) was strangulated to death by miscreants at Bhangura of the district.

The killing occurred at any time of Thursday night.

Police recovered the body of the old woman around 9.00am on Friday.

The deceased Zayeda Begum was the wife of the late Moyez Uddin of Patulipara village under Par Bhangura union. She was the mother-in-law of Zayeda Khatun Munni, Belkuchi upazila election officer, Sirajganj.

Bhangura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam Jewel said, Zayeda Begum was alone in the house on Thursday night. Her son Zayedul Islam who is a government primary school teacher was not at home. In the absence of anybody, miscreants entered the house sometime in the night and killed the old woman. On Friday morning, being informed by the locals, police recovered the dead body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

OC Nazrul also said it is clear that the old man was killed in a planned manner. Because the murderers did not take many valuable items from the house.
