One killed in Chuadanga ‘gunfight’

Chuadanga Correspondent: A man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Ketu (35), second-in-command of Arif group of Purbabangla Communist Party and son of Shawkat at Akundbaria village under Chuadanda sadar upazila.

Chuadanda Assistant Police Super Ahsan Habib said police arrested Ketu on Monday morning from Keraniganj in Dhaka. Based on information from him, a police team launched a drive accompanying him at the night. At one stage at around 2:00am, cohorts of Ketu fired upon the policemen forcing them to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

Ketu sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight.

Ketu was taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where the on-duty physician pronounced him dead.

Police recovered a LG shutter gun, two rounds of bullets, six bombs and some local sharp weapons from the spot.

ASP Ahsan Habib also said that Ketu was accused in six cases including Zakaria Sadhu murder case.
