One killed in Kushtia 'gunfight'

Kushtia Correspondent: Enamul Haque, the main accused in the murder case of college student Sagor Saha, has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police.


The gunfight took place around 4.30am on Monday in Harinarayanpur Beribadh area of Kushtia Sadar upazila.

Enamul Haque was the son of Mostafa Miah of Lakshmipur area of Sadar upazila. Three police constables were injured in the incident.

Kushtia Detective Police Officer In-Charge Chhabirul Islam said that we have information a group of terrorists were staying with arms in Harinarayanpur Baribadh area. A team of Detective Police conducted an operation in the area. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the terrorists fired at the police, forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight.  At one stage the terrorists fled. Later, Enamul was rescued and he was taken to Kushtia Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police also recovered a pistol, two rounds of bullets and local weapons from the spot.
