One killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with BGB and police in district’s Teknaf upazila on Wednesday night.

The incident took place in Sabarang union around 9:30pm.

The deceased was identified as Siraj Mia, 40, a suspected yaba dealer.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station Prodeep Kumar Das said acting on a tip-off about an illegal yaba shipment coming in from Myanmar, members of BGB and police conducted a drive.

The gang of drug dealers had open-fired at the sight of law enforcement, so, the law enforcers fired back in self-defence. Later, a bullet-riddled body was recovered along with 50,000 yaba pills, a Chinese pistol and a locally made gun.
