One killed over land dispute in Meherpur

Meherpur Correspondent:  A youth named Minarul Islam (30) was killed by his uncle and cousin over a land dispute at Amtoil village under the district’s Gangni upazila on Wednesday evening.

Minarul's father Kalam Hossain was injured.

Police said that Kalam and his brother-in-law Abdul Quddus’ family members had a dispute over a piece of land.  Over the issue, Abdul Quddus and his two sons- Israel and Israfil-attacked Kalam and his son Minarul with sticks on Wednesday evening. Locals rescued them and took them to Alamdanga Upazila Health Complex in Chuadanga. At night, the duty doctor of the health complex declared Minarul dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station (OC) Anwar Hossain said that the body has been taken to the police custody.
