Onima murder: Two muggers arrested

Faridpur Correspondent: Police have arrested two muggers who attacked on Onima Bhoumik, senior staff nurse of Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, to death in Faridpur.

The arrestees were known as Shariful Islam, 28, son of Faruk Sheikh of Roghunandapur of the district sadar upazila, and Habibur Rahman Tito, son of late Abdus Samad Matubbar of Mollabari of the town.

Jamal Pasha, Acting Superintendent of Police (SP) in Faridpur, confirmed the news in a briefing on Sunday noon.

He said, "Acting on a tip off, Kotwali police arrested Shariful from his father-in-law's house of Alfadanga upazila. Later, Habibur was arrested based on information he provided."

"They both confessed to their involvement incident of snatching in primary interrogation," the SP added.

On February 17, Onima Bhoumik fell in prey of muggers and sustained serious inuries while she was heading to her workplace. She was firstly taken to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital. She was rushed to Neuroscience Hospital in the capital as her condition deteriorated. She succumbed there after remaining five days under life support.

On February 24, the deceased's brighter Bidhan Bhoumik filed a case in this connection with Kotwali Police Station.
