Operation begins to rescue missing BGB man

Lalmonirhat Correspondent: A joint operation of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB), Border Security Force (BSF) of India and diving team of Rangpur Fire Service has begun to rescue missing BGB man in Teesta river.

BGB member Lance Nayek Sumon Mia went missing while conducting a drive to catch cattle smugglers at Abulerchar in Teesta on Monday night.

Lt. Col. Golam Morshed, director of Lalmonirhat-15 BGB, said acting on tip off, a four member team of Dahagram BGB camp led by habildar Anwar Hossain conducted a drive at sub-pillar no. 3 of pillar no. 6 at Abulerchar area of the district's Dahagram border to prevent cattle smugglers. Lance Nayek Tutul Mia of the team seized a cattle. But he drowned in the Teesta river as smugglers together stretched the rope of it. Later, Sumon Mia went missing after he got down into water to rescue him (Tutul).
