Operation ends at Jhenidah militant den

Jhenidah Correspondent: The operation conducted by law enforcers at Bajrapur village of the district's Maheshpur upazila on Sunday morning has ended with deaths of two militants.

Md Didar Ahmed, additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range, confirmed the closure of the operation around 8:30pm.

Earlier in the evening, a bomb disposal team of Counter Terrorism unit of police began the operation. Two militants were killed and Counter Terrorism unit ADC Nazmul Islam and SI Mohsin were injured during the operation. One of the militants killed in the operation was identified as Tuhin. Nazmul Islam was sent to Dhaka for higher treatment, Didar Ahmed said.

After visiting the spot at noon, Didar Ahmed said a house was cordoned off in suspicion of being militant den of Bajrapur village in the mornng. At one stage, militants fired bullets from inside the house, leaving the two cops injured.

In retaliation, law enforcers also fired at them for self defence that left two militants dead, he added.
