Outlaw killed in Pabna ‘gunfight’

Pabna Correspondent: A regional leader of the outlawed Lakshal Bahini was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Koijuri village under Ataikula Thana in Atghoria upazila on Monday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Kurban Ali, son of Kiam Uddin alias Adur at Jatrapur village under Atghoria upazila.

Masud Rana, officer-in-charge of Ataikula Police Station, said they had information that a gang of miscreants were holding a secret meeting in the area around 1.30am.  A police team conducted a drive there and sensing the presence of law enforcers, miscreants opened fire forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

Later, police recovered the dead body of Kurban Ali.  

The law enforcers recovered a revolver, four bullets, a motorcycle and drug from the spot. Kurban Aki was wanted in several cases, the OC added.

Four policemen were injured in the gunfight.
