Over 500 passengers escape accident narrowly

Chandpur Correspondent: Barisal-bound Green Line-2 launch fell in an accident while crossing the Meghna estuary on Saturday.

More than five hundred passengers boarded the launch narrowly escaped casualties.

A witness said the front glass of the launch was broken by the strong wind while it was crossing the Meghna estuary. After a while, the main gate of the launch was opened after breaking the lock.  All staffs were failed to lock the main gain despite their frantic efforts. Since, water has been entering into the launch due to strong current.

The passengers started to scream which prompted to anchor the launch at Chandpur ghat, the witness said.

Confirming the incident, launch authority it will leave for Barisal once the situation became normal.

Mostafizur Rahman, officer of Chandpur launch station, said the Green Line-2 is anchoring at Chandpur ghat. It will leave for Barisal if the authority can maintain the deficits.
