Narsingdi Correspondent: Law enforcers are conducting drives at two suspected militant dens, which have been cordoned off since last night, at Madhabdi and Shekerchar in Narsingdi.

Members of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC and Lawful Interception Cell (LIC) are jointly operating the drives. Narsingdi police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) are also assisting in the operation.

Local administration imposed section 144 in a 500-yard area surrounding both of the buildings, after evacuating residents of the area safely.

Law enforcers also announcing through loudspeakers not to move out from houses of surrounding area.

Physician teams and fire service vehicles were seen at both of the spots.

CTTC chief Monirul Islam said, “We had information that militants have established two dens in Narsingdi. Acting on that information, we cordoned off two buildings in the district.”

He further said, “We are sure that multiple culprits are presently inside. We are doing our best to make them surrender, but if they do not surrender, we will take action in accordance with the law.”

The owner of Nilufa Villa, the seven-storey building at Chhotogodairchar in Madhabdi, is known as one Afzal Hossain. Militants are residing in a flat of the building’s Southern part, police believe. A female madrasa was situated on the first three floors of the house.
