Policeman killed as bus runs over him in Savar

Staff Correspondent, Savar: A police official was killed as a passenger bus ran over him on Dhaka-Aricha highway near Salehpur of Savar upazila on the outskirts of the capital at midnight on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Sabur, assistant sub-inspector of Savar Model Police Station, hailing from Dhamrai area of Dhaka district.

Kamrul Hossain, Bhakurta camp in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, said the bus of Hanif Paribahan ran over Sabur while he was performing his duty in the area at midnight, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Sabur was taken to Enam Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was handed over to his family at night.

The bus, however, managed to flee the spot soon after running over him, Kamrul said.

A process to file a case in this regard is underway, he added.
