Railway tracks blocked demanding trace of 4 missing leaders

Gaibandha Correspondent: Local people blocked roads and railway tracks demanding information on the whereabouts of four “missing” Awami League and BNP leaders in Shadullahpur area of the district.

 

A Dhaka bound Lalmoni Express train coming from Lalmonirhat came under blockade when it arrived at Naldanga railway station at around 11:00am on Tuesday.

 

Farhad Imrul Kayes, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shadullahpur Police Station, said locals have kept Shadullahpur-Naldanga road under blockade following the incident. They are trying to bring the situation under control.

 

Locals claimed that the four were picked up by law enforcers from different places in Naldanga upazila on January 9 and 10.

 

The missing Awami League and BNP leaders included Monoarul Hasan Jim, vice president of upazila Jubo League unit, Sadequl Islam Sadique, former president of Damudorpur union unit BCL, Maidul Islam Prince, publication secretary of Naldanga union AL unit, and Shafiul Islam Shapla, assistant secretary of Naldanga union unit Jubo Dal.
