Rangpur gunfight kills 1

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: A youth was shot dead in a gunfight with police in Satani Sherpur area of Batgari union under Gangachhara Upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 30.

Confirming the matter, Gangachhara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Amzad Hossain said the youth was a notorious robber. Five police members were also injured during the gunfight.

Rangpur Additional police super (Circle A) Saifur Rahman Saif said a patrol team of police went to the spot around 3:00am. Meanwhile, a gang of robbers attacked the police team which triggered the gunfight, leaving Masud Rana dead on the spot.

A pistol and locals arms were recovered from the spot.
