Rape accused killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: An accused of a rape case was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel in Khurushkul area of Sadar upazila in the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Selim, 22, son of Mohammad Yunus.

Confirming the matter, Cox's Bazar RAB-7 camp company commander Major Ruhul Amin said a three years old girl was raped in Notun Fisheripara on August 23. Following the incident, victim's father filed a rape case on August 27.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted drive in the area this morning to detain the rape accused. Meanwhile, miscreants opened fire aiming RAB members which triggered the gunfight.

Later, RAB members found bullet injured Selim in the spot and send him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital but he died under treatment.

The law enforcers recovered a foreign pistol and a one-shooter gun.
