Road crash kills two in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent: A passenger Laguna hit a stranded truck in Shripur upazila of Gazipur, leaving its two passengers dead and another injured.

The incident took place on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Beraiderchala area in the upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as passenger Jahirul Islam, 28, son of Nazimuddin and Laguna driver Jasimuddin, 28, son of Shamsul Haque.

Maona highway police station officer-in-charge (OC) M Delwar Hossain said a Maona Chowrasta-bound Laguna got hit with a truck stranded beside the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the area, leaving Jahirul dead on the spot and two others injured including the Laguna driver.

Hearing the news, locals rushed to the spot and recovered them, he said.

Jasimuddin died on the way to Maona hospital, the police official said.

The OC added that the bodies were handed over to their relatives.
