Robber killed in 'gunfight' with cops in N'ganj

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: A suspected robber was killed and injured another in a gunfight with police in Ashariachar Bridge area under Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj early Thursday.

The deceased was Mobarak Hossain, son of late Yeasin, hailed from Protapnagar village. 

Two police officials named Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narayan and Constable Muminur were also injured during the drive.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Haque Sikdar of Sonargaon police station said that police chased a group of robbers when the robbers were committing robbery in a passenger bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the area. Meanwhile, the robbers opened fire aiming police. In reply, police also opened fire, leaving Mobarak and his cohort Babu injured.

Later, Mobarak died on the way to hospital.
